PanoPublisher 1.0
PanoPublisher is Mediacade's own management tool for the creation, editing and publishing of virtual tours on the Internet. Version 1.0 has just been implemented in the launch of the new 3dvisning.no domain.
PanoPublisher is independent of available viewers and players for panorama content and utilizes the best at any given time. Currently, the 3dvisning.no interface lets the user choose between Flash, Java and QuickTime versions in one or two sizes. Users can consequently select a quick peek or fullscreen immersion according to interest. Updates and additions to the available formats are easily performed without disturbing the functionality of existing code and content.
The PanoPublisher system employs the URI in an innovative way to divide and distribute all resources. Any panorama in any size in any format is directly available through the URI. In practice, this means that a tour has an entry point at every node, in the format and size of choice. The default view presents an extended interface to direct navigation across the URI, but one is free to start a tour at any juncture and change direction along the way.
The modularity and flexibility inherent in this approach is carried through in how the entire system is built. New functions and customizations are readily implemented.
