Mediacade Makeover
This medicade.com domain just received more than a facelift. Gradually growing tired of the bloat present in various content management systems, Mediacade wrote its own CMS for this reboot.
Focusing on the parts of the site slated for updates and archives, it's incredibly lean and keeps things super simple. Instead of building a small site around a massive CMS solution, it makes more sense to wireframe some specifics first and plug in a database and an admin only where they are needed. The result is an optimized site that is a joy to work with and a breeze to update.
Having seen how clients have struggled and fought with those loaded CMS control panels in the past, this is definitely the way forward — always build to order.
Writing your own code is also more enjoyable than hacking away at an ungainly CMS monster in order to tame it.
